Veremos que los materiales utilizados en el proyecto sirven de ejemplo para explicar los beneficios que aporta el combinar la metodología, en los casos BREEAM® - LEED® - Passivhaus - WELL Building Standard. Permiten evaluar y comprobar el impacto ambiental de un edificio desde que se construye hasta el fin de su vida útil. El sistema BIM permite realizar un cómputo rápido y preciso de todos los volúmenes de materiales, lo que permite agilitar el proceso y escoger los más adecuados para poder optar a la obtención de los certificados. El proceso sería mucho más complejo y laborioso si no se utilizara el método de trabajo BIM.
