
WWF und AXA-Stiftung hat gestern seinen neuen Bericht über Waldbrände in Spanien vorgelegt: "Wälder, die durch große Brände gefährdet sind" Aus dem Dokument geht hervor, dass die Auswirkungen großer Brände von den Bewirtschaftungsmodellen für Wälder und dem Mangel an Prävention und nicht von Waldarten selbst abhängen.
WWF und die AXA-Stiftung warnen vor der Bedeutung der Identifizierung und Quantifizierung der Gebiete, in denen große Waldbrände am größten sind, und der Ausarbeitung spezifischer Präventionspläne. Darüber hinaus ist es von entscheidender Bedeutung, die wirtschaftliche Nutzung von forstwirtschaftlichen Gütern und Dienstleistungen und die Schutzfunktion des Waldes wiederherzustellen.
Der diesjährige WWF-Bericht, der mit Unterstützung der AXA-Stiftung im Rahmen der Kampagne "Lass deinen Wald nicht riskieren" vorgelegt wurde, analysiert das Risiko der spanischen Wälder, große Waldbrände zu erleiden. Diese Unfälle sind das klare Symptom des Zustands der Verwundbarkeit unserer Waldmassen, der durch die Auswirkungen des Klimawandels noch verschlimmert wird.
Die Verbesserung der Wirksamkeit der Löschmittel hat zwar zu einer deutlichen Verringerung des durchschnittlichen Jahresdurchschnitts der von Bränden betroffenen Flächen geführt, doch bleibt die Ursache des Problems ungelöst: hohe Zahl von Unfällen, 16.500 pro Jahr.
