
Abengoa wurde vom Nationalen Amt für Strom und Wasser (ONEE) in Marokko zur Entwicklung einer neuen Salatanlage in Agadir in Marokko ausgewählt.
Das Projekt wird von der technologischen Leistungsfähigkeit von Abengoa profitieren, indem es einen Entsalzungsprozeß entwickelt, der sich aus einem Vorbehandlung von Ultrafiltration des Wassers, die eine Optimierung des fortgeschrittenen Reverse-Osmose-Prozesses ermöglichen wird.
Abengoa ist für die Gestaltung, Technologie, Bau und Betrieb sowie die Wartung über einen Zeitraum von 20 Jahren verantwortlich.Das Abengoas Projekt in Marokko hat eine Gesamtinvestition von 82 Mio. € und wird 100.000 m3 Trinkwasser für die Bevölkerung von Gran Agadir, die zu der bedeutenden Entwicklung der Region sowohl im Tourismussektor als auch in der Agrar- und Industriebranche beiträgt.

Agadirs Entsalzungsprojekt ist Teil des strategischen Plans von Abengoa zur Lösung der Versorgungsprobleme in den von der Dürre am stärksten betroffenen Gebieten der Welt, wie in Nordafrika. Durch dieses Projekt erweitert Abengoa seine gesamte Entsalzungskapazität auf fast 1.400 Mm3/Tag.
Abengoa ist seit 1977 in Marokko präsent und hat Büros in den Städten Rabat und Casablanca. Er hat in der Region bedeutende Projekte entwickelt, wie zum Beispiel das erste ISCC (Integrated Solar Combined Cycle) der Welt, das sich in der Stadt Ain Beni Mathar befindet.
Diese Salatpflanze wird die größte Kapazität Marokkos sein.
