Eine Studie über Internationale Energieagentur (AIE) in Zusammenarbeit mit der Internationale Atomenergie-Agentur (IAEA) geht davon aus, dass sich die von Kernkraftwerken erzeugte Energie bis 2035 im derzeitigen Tempo des weltweiten Energiebedarfs verdoppeln wird.

 

Wenn diese Nachfrage steigt, wird auch der Uranverbrauch mit einer deutlichen Verringerung der Reserven, die dazu zwingen, andere Alternativen zur Gewinnung von Erz für die Steigerung der Produktion zu suchen.

 

Das Meerwasser enthält Metalle in kleinen Mengen, darunter Uran, das dank seines enormen Volumens die Versorgung mit Atomenergie über Jahrhunderte hinweg gewährleisten könnte. Nach einer Studie über Scripps Research Institute von Kalifornien, jeder Kubikkilometer Meerwasser enthält 150 kg Uran. Mit anderen Worten, die Ozeane beherbergen mehr als 4 500 kubische Tonnen dieses Metalls, etwa 1000mal so viel wie alle bekannten Uranquellen in der westlichen Welt.

 

Zur Zeit wird Uran aus so genannten "Mena"-Merkstoffen gewonnen, wo seine Konzentration 20.000 Teile pro Million, während in den Ozeanen ist kaum 0,003 Teile pro Million, wenn auch in nahezu unbegrenzten Mengen, wie es in der Royal Society of Chemistry (England) veröffentlicht wird.

 

 

Gewinnung von Uran aus Meerwasser

 

Die Wissenschaftler vertrauen darauf, dass sie große Mengen Uran durch einen Prozess entfernen können, der darin besteht, es durch chemische Elemente von anderen Molekülen zu isolieren "Lignon" (Ionen oder Moleküle, die ein Metall umgeben, bilden eine aus Koordinierung), deren Zusammensetzung die Uranmoleküle anzieht. Derzeit wird von Forschern verwendet, um große Kunststoffplatten, die mit Ligands ins Meer getränkt sind, zu lagern. Der Kunststoff schwimmt ungefähr zwei Monate lang innerhalb einer Art Netz, das in den Boden gestochen wird, und nach dieser Zeit wird er gelblich, was bedeutet, dass er mit Uranpartikeln getränkt ist. 

 

In Japan haben Wissenschaftler mehr als zwei Gramm Uran pro Kilogramm Kunststoff entnommen, und nach ihrer Schätzung ist der Preis fast gleich dem Preis, den sie bei der Durchführung dieser Methode erhalten haben, und in Japan ist es ihnen gelungen, mehr als zwei g Uran pro Kilogramm Plastik zu entnehmen. 10 mal größer, um das Metall aus traditionellen Minen zu extrahieren.
