
Die chinesische staatliche Ölgesellschaft CNOOC und ihre Partnerin ConocoPhillips haben seit Wochen heftige Kritik geübt, dass sie zwei Einleitungen im Juni in eine Bucht am Gelben Meer an der Ostküste Chinas verheimlichten, berichtete heute die unabhängige Zeitung "South China Morning Post."
Die Einleitungen erfolgten Anfang und Mitte letzten Monats in der Penglai 19-3, die von beiden Unternehmen gemeinsam betrieben wurde, und obwohl es keine Einzelheiten über die Menge des Öls gab, sagen die chinesischen Presseberichte, dass sie zu einer Ölpest von drei Kilometern Länge und 30 Meter Breite führten.
Laut offiziellen chinesischen Medien waren es angeblich Arbeiter dieser Unternehmen, die über ihre Konten in Weibo (ein Twitter-ähnlicher Mikroblog-Dienst) berichteten, und bis diese Informationen keine Alarme in den Internetforen ausgelöst hatten, war CNOOC nicht würdig zu berichten.
Die ersten offiziellen Informationen von CNOOC kamen erst am Freitag, dem 1. Juli, mit zwei Wochen Verspätung und Hinweis darauf, dass das Problem "grundsätzlich unter Kontrolle" war und keine Informationen über die Ursache der Einleitung lieferte.
Die chinesische staatliche Meeresbehörde, die die maritimen Tätigkeiten verwaltet, hat angekündigt, dass sie morgen, Dienstag, eine Pressekonferenz über den Unfall abhalten wird, während einige Experten Sanktionen gegen die Verantwortlichen der Unternehmen und sogar die Regulierungsbehörde fordern.
"Unsere Unternehmen haben, unabhängig davon, ob Unfälle von großer Bedeutung waren oder nicht, versäumt, das zu tun, was sie zu gegebener Zeit tun sollten, um das Recht der Bürger auf Information zu respektieren," so Professor Lin Boqiang von der Universität Xiamen, die in der Zeitung zitiert wurde.
