Ein Team von Forschern an der University of Central Florida (USA), geleitet von Professor Zenghu Chang, haben den kürzesten Laserpuls der Welt, von 67 attosekunden ultraviolettes Licht.

 

Professor Chang von der Physikabteilung und der Universitätsakademie für Optik und Photonik leitete das Experiment und glaubt, dass er den Wissenschaftlern in diesem Prozess ein neues Instrument zur Beobachtung der Quantenmechanik in AktionEtwas, das bisher verborgen war.

 

Der frühere Rekord eines 80-Attosekunden-Pulses wurde 2008 am Max-Planck-Institut in Garching in Deutschland gegründet.

 

Die Forschungsergebnisse wurden in der Zeitschrift Optics Letters.

 

 

Was ist ein attosekunde?

 

Atto (Zeichen a1 ) ist ein Präfix für Internationales Einheitensystem mit einem Faktor von 10-18, oder was das gleiche ist, ist ein attosekunde die Einen Teil einer Sekunde.

 

Mit anderen Worten wären 15 Trillionen Impulse von der Dauer der vom Team um Chang erzeugten Impulse nötig, um eine Sekunde zu erreichen.

 

Die Leistung ist umso bemerkenswerter, als das Team dies ohne die Verwendung von Spezialausrüstung getan hat, wie etwa ein 1,5 Kilometer langes Teilchenbeschleuniger oder ein Superdome-Synchrotron.

 

"Der Erfolg von Dr. Chang, immer kürzere Lichtimpulse zu bekommen, kann helfen, eine neue Tür für eine zuvor verborgene Welt zu öffnen, in der wir sehen können, wie sich Elektronen in Atomen und Molekülen bewegen und den chemischen Reaktionen folgen," sagte Michael Johnson, der Dekan des UCF-Kollegs. "Es ist erstaunlich zu denken, dass wir jetzt in der Lage sein können, die Quantenmechanik im Prozess zu sehen."

 

 

Möglicher Weg, um die Quantenmechanik besser zu kennen

 

Diese neue Technik könnte Wissenschaftler dazu bringen zu verstehen, wie Energie für die Nutzung der Datenübermittlung, gezielte Therapien Krebs oder Diagnose von Krankheiten anbieten. Die Entdeckung markiert den ersten signifikanten Durchbruch im Laserpulsfeld in vier Jahren.

 

La Quantenmechanik ist die Untersuchung der Physik auf mikroskopischer Ebene, die speziell Energie und Materie in dieser kleinen Skala sucht. Im Jahr 2001 wurden erstmals die Atomsekundenimpulse gezeigt. Seitdem haben Wissenschaftler aus aller Welt versucht, immer kürzere Pulsdauern zu erreichen, indem sie so die Tür zu öffnen Verständnis der subatomaren Welt.
