Die ULTra PRT (urban light transport - Personal rapid transport) haben in diesem Sommer auf dem Flughafen Heathtrow London begonnen, um als Transportmittel zwischen Terminal 5 und einem weit entfernten Parkplatz zu dienen. Durch den Vergleich verschiedener Optionen haben die RTP zu einer schnelleren Lösung von 60% und zu einer Einsparungen bei den Betriebskosten von 40% geführt.

 

Das Konzept der RTP ist seit Jahrzehnten bekannt. Heathrow ist das letzte Beispiel für eine vollständige Implantation. Zu niedrigeren Kosten als öffentliche Verkehrsmittel bieten sie auch die Vorteile privater Fahrzeuge: Diese kleinen klimatisierten Fahrzeuge müssen nicht aufhören, andere Fahrgäste abzuholen. Anstatt auf öffentliche Verkehrsmittel zu warten, gibt es jetzt mehrere Podcars, die auf die Passagiere warten.

 

Sie bewegen sich mit einer Geschwindigkeit von 40 km/h auf dedizierten Fahrspuren, ohne Fahrer zu sein und sich von Staus und Staus zu befreien. Sie sind in ständiger Kommunikation mit einem Kraftwerk, von dem sie Anweisungen erhalten, wie zum Beispiel zu einer bestimmten Station zu gehen oder ihre Batterien aufzuladen. Laser-Sensorsysteme sorgen dafür, dass keine Kollisionen auftreten, selbst wenn ein Fahrzeug, das vor der Tür kaputt ist, die Schiene versperrt. Die Fahrzeuge verfügen über 4 45Ah- und 48 Volt-Batterien. PRTs sind relativ leicht, montieren 13′′ Räder ohne Kamera und sind aus ABS-Kunststoff, Acrylglas und Stahl gefertigt.

 

Ähnliche Systeme wie diese PRT könnten öffentliche Verkehrsmittel an vielen Orten der Welt ersetzen. Busse und Züge funktionieren sehr gut in den Spitzenzeiten, wenn sie voll von Passagieren sind. Außerhalb dieser Spitzenzeiten könnte die Verwendung kleinerer Fahrzeuge mit dem Vorteil, dass mehr Einheiten auf Anfrage versandt werden können, sinnvoller sein.
