Die Verwendung von Robotern in feindlichen Umgebungen wie Tunnel oder Minen trägt zur Verbesserung der Sicherheit am Arbeitsplatz bei. Damit diese Geräte miteinander kommunizieren können, ist ein Team von Forschern, zu dem Experten der UNED, hat ein Koordinierungssystem entwickelt, mit dem die Praktiken der Tierhaltung, bei denen das Interesse der Gruppe an dem Individuum vorherrscht, im Vordergrund stehen.

 

Die Tunnel des Kanalisationssystems oder die Bergwerke sind die idealen Orte, um eine Reihe von Robotern zu besetzen und miteinander zu kommunizieren, z. B. mit dem Ziel, eine Landkarte zu entwerfen. Forscher der UNED haben zusammen mit Wissenschaftlern der Polytechnischen Universität Madrid ein System der Koordinierung zwischen diesen Geräten validiert und sich dabei von der Spieltheorie und den Grundsätzen der Tiererhaltung leiten lassen.

 

"Roboter werden programmiert, um die Wahl zu wählen, die sie am meisten interessieren. Sie handeln mit dem gleichen Gefühl der Egoismus wie die Tiere, aber, wie sie es tun, wenn sie die Aktionen, die das Team ergreifen wird, vereinbaren, werden sie nach dem allgemeinen Interesse gewählt," erklärt Manuel Martin-Ortiz, Forscher für künstliche Intelligenz bei der UNED, derzeit in der Technische Universität Ehindoven (Niederlande) und Haupturheber der Forschung.

 

Die Arbeit, die veröffentlicht wird Robotics and Autonomous SystemsEr beschreibt eine Reihe von Experimenten, die Wissenschaftler in einem Simulator durchgeführt haben - einem Programm, bei dem jeder Roboter ein Punkt ist, der sich auf dem Bildschirm bewegt - und in einer kontrollierten Umgebung in Form eines Labyrinths, mit vier echten Robotern in der Größe einer Erfrischungsdose - sogenannte E-Pucks.

 

Der Schlüssel zur Methode besteht darin, dass die Interaktion der Gruppe selbst dann auftritt, wenn einige Geräte nicht mit dem Rest kommunizieren oder beschädigt werden. "Jedes Mal, wenn sich ein paar Roboter treffen, teilen sie ihre Informationen, bewerten mögliche unerforschte Routen und verhandeln darüber, wer auf jedem neuen Weg bleibt," so Felix de La Paz, Forscher für künstliche Intelligenz der UNED und ein anderer Verfasser der Studie.

 

Sobald die neuen Routen zugewiesen sind, erforschen Roboter sie individuell, bis sie wieder den Rest des Teams treffen. "Wenn die Entscheidung, die einem von ihnen am meisten am Herzen liegt, von den anderen nicht gebilligt wird, wird sie erneut im Einklang mit ihren Interessen verhandeln, ohne jedoch auf einer Option zu bestehen, die von der Gruppe ausgeschlossen wurde," fügt Martin-Ortiz hinzu.

 

Für die Kommunikation in simulierten Umgebungen verwendeten die Geräte das TCP/IP-Protokoll, während die kleinen E-Pucks das System verwendeten. Bluetooth, weil es keine WiFi-Verbindung gibt. Dieses Kooperationssystem kann jedoch "auf jedes Kommunikationssystem extrapoliert werden," so der Wissenschaftler abschließend.
