
Experimente zeigen, dass mit einem Gramm Nanopartikel Hunderte Liter Wasser mit einer Konzentration von Elementen über die chilenische Trinkwassernorm dekontaminiert werden könnten.
Die Verwendung von Nanopartikeln mit hoher Absorptionsfähigkeit (Retentionsfähigkeit eines Stoffes) als Alternative zur Wasserentsalzung ist eine der letzten Arbeiten, die von Forschern der Fakultäten für Chemie und Biologie und Wissenschaft der Universität Santiago de Chile (Usach) durchgeführt wurden.
Die Arbeit unter Leitung des Usach - Ermittlers Dr. Marcelo Rocco und unterstützt von Dr. Maria Angelica Blond und der Physiker Samuel Baltazar, setzt auf die Verwendung von Nanotechnologie, um das Problem der Erzeugung von Wasser für den Verbrauch, zu niedrigen Kosten und Umweltauswirkungen zu lösen.
Der Akademiker argumentiert, dass es "andere, weniger entwickelte Alternativen" zu den bereits verwendeten gibt, wie "eine Vielzahl von Membranen und Filtern auf der Grundlage von Kohlenstoffnanoröhren, Nanoporös-Keramiken, Magnet-Nanopartikeln und anderen Nanomaterialien," die aufgrund ihrer geringen Kosten und Umweltauswirkungen betrachtet werden können.
Das waren Laborversuche, bei denen diese Technologie eingesetzt wurde - vor allem reaktive Nanopartikel, die als Ionendetektoren mit Nullvalenzmetallen wirken -, die zeigen, dass mit einem Gramm Nanopartikel Hunderte Liter Wasser mit einer Konzentration von Elementen auf die chilenische Trinkwassernorm dekontaminiert werden könnten (NCh 409 of. 2005).
Dr. Rocco argumentierte, dass sie "unvorhersehbar" seien, da das Material und seine potenzielle Verwendung (einschließlich Haustier) sowohl für die Wasserzufuhr als auch für die Entfernung von Stoffen, die giftig oder unnötig sein könnten, nicht mehr verfügbar seien.
