
In Europa der 28 werden jährlich produziert 461 Mio. Tonnen Bau- und Demontageabfälle (RCD) ohne Material aus Aushubtätigkeiten. In diesem Tempo werden schätzungsweise bis 2020 rund 516 Mio. Tonnen RCD betragen.
Dieser Reststrom hat eine immer komplexere Natur, u. a. aufgrund der Verwendung neuer, aufwendigerer Materialien oder Techniken. Dies bedeutet, dass dieneue Recycling- und Verwertungsstrategien die eine effizientere Verwertung der in diesem Reststrom enthaltenen Rohstoffe ermöglichen (Petrios, Holz, Metall, Kunststoffe usw.).
Das europäische Projekt http://hiserproject.eu/ HISER ("Holistic Innovative Solutions for an Efficient Recycling and Recovery of Valuable Raw Materials from Complex Construction and Demolition Waste"), an dem das Technologiezentrum GAIKER-IK4 beteiligt ist, wurde vorgeschlagen, die Verwertung und Verwertung dieser Materialien zu regeln.

Das Projekt zielt vor allem darauf ab, neue Lösungen zu entwickeln und umzusetzen, sowohl technologische als auch nichttechnische, um eine bessere Erholung der in RCD enthaltenen Rohstoffe zu erreichen und Konzepte der Kreislaufwirtschaft in die Wertschöpfungskette des Gebäudesektors aufzunehmen, wie z. B. die Verwendung der aus RCD wiederhergestellten Materialien als Sekundärrohstoffe in neuen Anwendungen für den Bausektor selbst.

Das HISER-Projekt fördert den Einsatz recycelbarer Rohstoffe durch die Einführung von Methoden und Instrumenten, die die Einführung effizienter Verfahren für die Trennung vor Ort erleichtern, die Entwicklung kostenwirksamer Technologien zur Wiederherstellung hochwertiger Rohstoffe und schließlich die Schaffung neuer, wirtschaftlich und ökologisch nachhaltiger Baumaterialien für den teilweisen Ersatz von nativen Rohstoffen durch diese aus RCD wiedergewonnenen Rohstoffe.
Dieses Projekt wird von der Europäischen Union im Rahmen des Rahmenprogramms für Forschung und Innovation "Horizont 2020" (Vertrag 642085) finanziert.
