
Eine Doktorandin an der Universität von Navarra, Patricia Aranguren Garacochea, wurde sie von der International Thermoelectric Society (ITS) in der Kategorie der jungen Forscher, deren Arbeit und Leistung im Bereich der Thermoenergie eine bedeutende Originalität und Wirkung hat.
Die junge Navarra arbeitet in der UPNA-Forschungsgruppe für Thermik und Fluids Engineering, wo sie ihre Doktorarbeit über die Nutzung der Abwärme zur Stromerzeugung, unter der Leitung des Professors David Astráin Ulibarrena.
Zwei Projekte, die auf Ministerebene finanziert werden
Diese Dissertation ist Teil der beiden Forschungsprojekte des staatlichen Forschungs- und Innovationsplans des Ministeriums für Wirtschaft und Wettbewerbsfähigkeit, die der genannten Gruppe für Thermik und Fluidos zugeordnet sind. Bei diesen Projekten soll die Wärmeenergie aus Verbrennungsrauchen, die in der Regel entzündet und in die Umwelt abgegeben wird, in direkt nutzbare elektrische Energie umgewandelt werden. Dazu werden thermoelektrische Geräte verwendet, die auf dem Seebeck-Effekt basieren und den Vorteil haben, dass sie keine beweglichen Teile verwenden, was sie zu sehr robusten Geräten mit minimaler Wartung und langer Lebensdauer macht. Darüber hinaus sind sie skalierbar und geeignet für die Nutzung von Niedertemperatur-Abwärmen (unter 250 °C). Man darf nicht vergessen, daß 40% aller Energie, die wir verbrauchen, in Form von Restwärme entsorgt werden.
Für Patricia Aranguren ist dieser Preis die zweite Anerkennung der International Thermoelectric Society (ITS). Im vergangenen Jahr erhielt die Forscherin der UPNA während der 33th International Conference on Thermoelectrics in Nashville (USA) den Preis für den besten Poster (ITS Outstanding Poster Award) mit einer Arbeit, die im Rahmen des genannten Forschungsprojekts der Gruppe für Thermische und Fluidische Ingenieurwissenschaften durchgeführt wurde.
