
Jedes Jahr, fast 1 Milliarde Reifen Sie erreichen weltweit das Ende ihrer Lebensdauer und 350 Millionen in der Europäischen Union, die jährlich zunehmen. Diese ausgelassenen Reifen könnten vollständig recycelt werden und die wiedergewonnenen Materialien könnten für andere Anwendungen genutzt werden.
Das aus EU-Mitteln finanzierte Projekt Tygre (High added value materials from waste tyre gasification residues Houten) wurde vorgeschlagen, neue Verwendungszwecke für diese Abfälle einzuführen, die auf 3,5 Millionen Tonnen pro Jahr geschätzt werden.
Tygre-Projekt
Die Reifen enthalten Stahl und eine hohe Menge an organische Materialien die als Kraftstoffquelle als Ersatz für Kohle oder Biomasse oder als Sekundärrohstoffe bei der Herstellung von Nebenprodukten mit hoher Wertschöpfung.
Das Projektteam erforscht neue Methoden, um diese Ressource durch ein System zu kontrollieren, das die Synthesebrenngas o Benzylsintegás (eine Mischung, die hauptsächlich aus Wasserstoff, Kohlenmonoxid und Kohlendioxid und Methan besteht) und einem keramischen Material (Siliziumcarbid).
An der Spitze des Projekts befindet sich die italienische nationale Agentur für neue Technologien, Energie und nachhaltige wirtschaftliche Entwicklung (ENEA) mit Sitz in Portici, am Stadtrand von Neapel. Sabrina Portofino, ENEA-Forscherin, berichtete, dass im Recyclingprozess verschiedene Nebenerzeugnisse genutzt werden müssten: "Die Hauptidee besteht darin, den Vergasungsprozess in Richtung Recycling von Materialien umzuleiten." Um den Mehrwert der Vergasung zu erhöhen, haben wir daher beschlossen, einen zweiten Prozess zur Synthese von keramischen Produkten wie Siliziumcarbid aufzunehmen, da der Kohlenstoff bei hohen Temperaturen mit Siliziumoxid reagiert, um Siliziumkarbid zu erzeugen.
Siliziumcarbid ist nützlich bei der Herstellung von keramischen Stoffen und verfügt über Anwendungen in der Elektronik.
Das Projekt erhielt insgesamt 3,3 Mio. EUR aus EU-Mitteln. An dem Konsortium beteiligen sich Forscher und Unternehmen, die die wichtigsten Akteure der Wertschöpfungskette vertreten, z. B. Reifenrecycling, Endverwender von Keramikpulvern und Hersteller von Pyrolytischer Kohle.
Seit Beginn des Projekts im Jahr 2009 wurden erhebliche Fortschritte erzielt. Der neue Prozess wurde auf Laborebene entwickelt und getestet. Darüber hinaus wurde in den Anlagen von ENEA in Trisaia (Italien) eine Prototypanlage gebaut, mit der das Projektkonsortium bis zu 20 Kilogramm Reifenabfälle pünktlich verarbeiten kann. Diese Anlage wird dazu dienen, die Nachhaltigkeit der Recyclingmethode des TYGRE-Projekts zu ermitteln und die Energiebilanz des gesamten Prozesses zu bewerten.
