Forscher Institut für chemische Technologie, Gemischtes Zentrum des Obersten Rates für wissenschaftliche Forschung (CSIC) und die Universitat Politètecnica deValència haben Keramikmembran die die Herstellung von Wasserstoff aus Erdgas s billiger und sauberer.

 

Die Forschungsergebnisse haben eine Vielzahl von Anwendungen im Bereich der Elektrofahrzeuge oder der chemischen Industrie, da die neue Methode die Erzeugung von Wasserstoff aus Erdgas und Elektrizität in einem Schritt und ohne Energieverlust ermöglicht.

 

 

Wasserstoff und sein Potenzial im Verkehr

 

Wasserstoff ist ein ausgezeichneter Brennstoff, der aufgrund seiner hohen Energiedichte und seiner fehlenden Treibhausgasemissionen für eine Vielzahl von industriellen Prozessen von entscheidender Bedeutung ist. Die Kombination mit atmosphärischem Sauerstoff erzeugt Energie und Wasser als einziges Nebenprodukt, das, wie die Experten vermuten, zu einem der Hauptanwärter für die Ersetzung fossiler Brennstoffe als Energiequelle für den Verkehrssektor wird.

 

Der Forschungsprofessor des CSIC und Forschungsdirektor José Manuel Serra erklärt, dass "die Entwicklung und Einführung von Hybrid- und Elektroautos in den kommenden Jahren die Auswirkungen des Verkehrs auf die CO2-Emissionen und damit auf den globalen Treibhauseffekt verringern wird. Der nächste natürliche Schritt ist die Einführung von Wasserstofffahrzeugen mit größerer Autonomie und schnellerem Betanken als Elektrofahrzeugen, wie die Wette großer Automobilmarken zeigt."

 

Die Forscher haben einen elektrisch betriebenen Membranreaktor zur Trennung von Gasen entwickelt, der die endothermische Produktion von Wasserstoff mit nahezu null Energieverlust ermöglicht. "Unsere Forschungen zeigen, dass es möglich ist, Druckwasserstoff in einem einzigen Schritt mit hoher Effizienz aus Strom und Erdgas oder Biogas zu erzeugen und gleichzeitig CO2 zu trennen und nicht in die Atmosphäre zu strömen. Unsere Methode erlaubt es, Wasserstoff in dieselben Tankstellen, Nachbarschaftsgemeinschaften, Garagen oder Farmen zu laden. Bei der Nutzung von Strom aus erneuerbaren Quellen ermöglicht unser System, Wasserstoff mit einem sehr niedrigen CO2-Fußabdruck zu erzeugen. Wir können auch erneuerbare Energie in Spitzenproduktion in Form von komprimiertem Wasserstoff für den weiteren Einsatz speichern, wenn der elektrische Bedarf höher ist, oder als Fahrzeugtreibstoff," fügt Serra hinzu.

 

Die Arbeit der Forscher des Instituts für chemische Technologie, entwickelt zusammen mit der Universität Oslo und die US-amerikanische Multis CoorsTek, so dass wasserstoffbetriebene Fahrzeuge mit einer Energieeffizienz und einer ähnlichen Einfachheit betrieben werden können wie Elektrofahrzeuge. Da Erdgas als Primärenergiequelle wesentlich niedrigere Kosten als Elektrizität hat, könnte Wasserstoff für Autos billiger sein als Elektrizität.
