
Mitglieder der Forschungsgruppe Strukturen und Geotechnik der Universität Sevilla, zusammen mit Forschern der Forschungsgruppe Bergbau von Daten und intelligenten Systemen der Universität Pablo de Olavide und des TGT-NT2 Labs aus Chile haben eine wissenschaftliche Methode der Erdbebenvorhersage entwickelt, die zwischen 70% und 80% zuverlässig ist.
Dieses Design basiert auf Datenminimationstechniken, ermöglicht es, eine Erdbebenbewegung vorherzusagen, eine Woche im Voraus, im Falle der Iberischen Halbinsel, und fünf Tage in Chile.
"Unser Vorhersagesystem basiert auf einem künstlichen neuronalen Netzwerk, in dem eine Reihe von Eingabedaten, die durch Gleichungen miteinander verbunden sind, ein Ergebnis liefern," erklärt Professor an der Universität von Sevilla Antonio Morales, der gemeinsam mit dem Professor an der UPO Francisco Martínez und dem chilenischen Wissenschaftler Jorge Reyes an dieser Technik arbeitet.
Auf der Iberischen Halbinsel haben sie das Alboran-Meer und das westliche Gebiet des Azoren-Gibraltar-Fehlers untersucht, während sich die Forschung in Chile auf vier der besmatischsten Regionen des Landes ausgedehnt hat. Das Erdbeben auf der Iberischen Halbinsel ist moderat, aber Chile ist das Land mit der größten Erdbebenaktivität der Welt. Dies zeigt, dass diese Technik ist gültig Bereiche mit verschiedenen seismischen und tektonischen Eigenschaften.
"Was unser System hervorhebt, ist, dass wir ein wissenschaftliches Problem systematisiert haben. Darüber hinaus ist die Erfolgsrate für diese Art von Problemen sehr hoch. Das Zeitfenster variiert zwischen fünf und sieben Tagen. Die Raumunsicherheit ist auf die Breite jedes Gebiets beschränkt," so Dr. Morales.
Derzeit wird die Methodik mit Daten aus Japan gereinigt. Ein Land, in dem das Erdbebenrisiko aufgrund seines Erdbebens, seiner Bevölkerungsdichte und seines wirtschaftlichen Reichtums sehr hoch ist. Darüber hinaus entwickeln sie eine Website, auf der Prognosen für die Iberische Halbinsel in Echtzeit abgerufen werden können.
