
Eine Gruppe von Aktivisten (ca. 20) der Greenpeace Umweltorganisation hat es geschafft, die Sicherheitskontrollen zu umgehen und Zugang zum Kernkraftwerk Cofrontes in Valencia zu erhalten. Seit sechs Uhr morgens, der Zeit, mit der die Aktion begonnen hat, haben sechs Kletterer einen der 125 Meter hohen Kühltürme genommen, von wo aus sie die Botschaft gelockert haben: nukleare Gefahr. Außerdem hat eine weitere Gruppe von Aktivisten mit dem Motto "Cofrontes" eingesetzt: Schließen Sie jetzt. Auf der Website der Organisation können Sie live verfolgen, was in der Zentrale geschieht.
Die Aktion, die sich unter heftigem Regen vollzieht, ist Teil einer Kampagne der Umweltorganisation, die den Rat für nukleare Sicherheit (CSN) und die Regierung auffordert, die Betriebsgenehmigung von Cofrontes, die am 19. März endet, nicht zu verlängern und ihre endgültige Schließung vorzunehmen.
Angesichts der "Eingriffe" der Umweltschützer erklärte das Kraftwerk die "Notwarnsituation" und teilte die Maßnahme dem Rat für nukleare Sicherheit (CNS), dem Industrieministerium und der Regierungsdelegation in der Region Valencia mit. In einer Erklärung bestätigt Cofrontes, dass Greenpeaces Aktivisten sich in der Gegend der Kühltürme befinden und dass sie "von den Atomgebäuden der Anlage entfernt" bleiben. Wie im Notfallplan des Kraftwerks festgelegt, wurden die entsprechenden Protokolle, erklärt die Anlage, im Besitz von Iberdrola, betrieben. Laut der Zentrale haben die Sicherheitskräfte die Situation unter Kontrolle. Die Aktivisten stehen jedoch weiterhin vor einem der Kühltürme, wo sie bereits einen Teil ihrer Botschaft gegen das Kraftwerk gemalt haben.
Der CSN hat seinerseits seinen Notfallsaal (Salem) eingerichtet, um "kontinuierliche Kommunikation" mit dem operativen Koordinierungszentrum der Regierungsunterübertragung in Valencia zu pflegen. Der CSN betont, dass das Kraftwerk "im stabilen Zustand und mit allen verfügbaren Sicherheitssystemen weiterhin betrieben wird."
