Das Projekt, das als CARVOC: "Ökologische innovative Filter für Aktivkohle zur Beseitigung flüchtiger organischer Verbindungen", an der Forscher der Universität von Alicante beteiligt sind, zielt darauf ab, die Emission flüchtiger organischer Verbindungen und unbeabsichtigter Einleitung giftiger Industriegase in die Atmosphäre durch die Entwicklung innovativer Aktivkohlefilter aus Hanfrückstände.

 

Die von der Europäischen Kommission finanzierte Initiative verfügt über einen Gesamthaushalt von mehr als 1,5 Mio. EUR und wird bis Ende 2014 in Kraft sein. Die engagierten Länder sind: Spanien (Alhama Linares Entwicklung und Kultur S.A., Universität von Alicante und Contactica S.L). Frankreich (École Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Rennes und TC'PLASTIC) und Vereinigtes Königreich (Mast Carbon International Ltd. und Koukoula Limited).

 

Ziel dieses Projekts ist es, "Filter, geeignet für die Aufnahme von Chemikalien, die von hochschadstoffreichen Industrien abgegeben werden"Der Forscher Diego Cazorla Amorós, Leiter der Forschungsgruppe "Kohlenstoffe und Umwelt" und Leiter dieses Projekts an der Universität von Alicante, erklärt.

 

Die Filter, die sich aus dieser Forschung ergeben, werden in Industriefiltrationssysteme und persönliche Schutzausrüstung, zusätzlich zu den Produkten, deren Zweck die Reinigung flüchtiger organischer Verbindungen ist, die in zahlreichen täglichen und industriellen Anwendungen verwendet und hergestellt werden. "Die Bedeutung dieser Verbindungen liegt darin, dass sie als Vorläufer für die Bildung von Ozon auf der Erdoberfläche wirken, wo sie negativ sind, und dass einige dieser Verbindungen sehr giftig und krebserregend sind. Andererseits fördern einige dieser Verbindungen auch die Zerstörung des Ozons in hohen Schichten der Atmosphäre, in denen es sich um eine chemische Verbindung handelt, die uns vor der Sonneneinstrahlung vor größerer Energie schützt," so Cazorla.

 

 

Ersetzung von Steinkohle

 

Bei der Herstellung der Filter werden Hanfabfälle aus der Landwirtschaft und der industriellen Verarbeitung verwendet, ein besonders geeignetes und neuartiges Rohmaterial, da Hanf einen nachhaltigen Anbau mit positiven Umwelteigenschaften darstellt, die keine anderen Pflanzen bieten und deren Rückstände interessante Vorteile für die Herstellung von Aktivkohle haben (poröses Material mit einem großen Oberflächenbereich, das eine Vielzahl von Stoffen, sowohl gasförmig als auch flüssig, aufnehmen kann).
