
IBERDROLA hat begonnen, seine Windanlagen mit Komplexe orographische Bedingungen, sowohl im Land- als auch im Meer (offshore) durch ein innovatives Supercomputersystem, das neben dem Barcelona Supercomputing Center - National Supercomputer Center (BSC-CNS) entwickelt wurde.
Dieses System wurde im Rahmen des Sedar-Projekt (Hochauflösungs-Windbild), eine F & E+i-Initiative, die zur Schaffung eines IT-Modells geführt hat, das die Schätzung der Stromerzeugung in Windparks auch während ihrer gesamten Lebensdauer erheblich verbessert.
Der große Vorteil von Sedar, der sich seit zwei Jahren entwickelt hat und dessen gute Ergebnisse in der Tätigkeit von IBERDROLA bereits spürbar sind, ist die Verringerung der Unsicherheit, und damit das Investitionsrisiko, bei der Planung komplexer Windprojekte.
In der Tat hat IBERDROLA dieses System zum ersten Mal in der Gestaltung eines Windparks, des PIER II, in Mexiko, 66 Megawatt (MW) Kapazität angewendet. Diese Anlage wird in einer Höhe von etwa 2.500 Metern auf einem Gelände gebaut, das außerdem eine komplexe Orographie aufweist, in der die Ergebnisse der aktuellen kommerziellen Vorhersagemodelle sehr unsicher waren.

Das Barcelona Supercomputing Center - National Supercomputer Center (BSC-CNS) ist das führende Zentrum für Supercomputer in Spanien. Seine Spezialität ist Supercomputer mit hoher Leistung, auch bekannt als HPC (High Performance Computing). Sie hat zwei Funktionen: Bereitstellung von Infrastrukturen und Service in Supercomputern für spanische und europäische Wissenschaftler und Schaffung von Wissen und Technologie, um sie in die Gesellschaft zu übertragen.
Mit dem Sedar-FuE-Projekt konsolidiert sich IBERDROLA als Referenzunternehmen bei der Entwicklung von Forschungsprojekten im Bereich der erneuerbaren Energien.
