
Ein wissenschaftliches Optoelectronics Research Centre der Universität Southampton (Vereinigtes Königreich) ist ein Pionier in der Forschung über die Entwicklung der Nanofasern aus Siliciumdioxid, mit einem Widerstand, der sie zu den stärksten der Welt macht.
Diese Nanosiliciumfasern sind 15 Mal stärker als Stahl und können mit einer riesigen Länge von Tausenden von Kilometern hergestellt werden.
Umfangreiches Anwendungspotenzial
Derzeit werden Kohlenstoffnanoröhren sind das am meisten verfügbare Material dieser Eigenschaften, aber eine hohe Kraft kann nur in sehr kurzen Proben gemessen werden, nur ein paar Mikron lang und bietet wenig praktischen Wert.
Die Ergebnisse dieses Projekts, an dem Forscher Gilberto Brambilla und der Direktor des ORC, Professor Sir David Payne, beteiligt waren, öffnen die Türen für seine Anwendung in zahlreichen Bereichen, da es konfiguriert werden kann, um die Luftfahrt-, Marine- und Sicherheitsindustrien zu transformieren. Die Tests werden durchgeführt weltweit in künftigen Anwendungen von Nanokabeln.
Die Basisarbeit hat sich in der Suche nach ultraresistenten Verbindungen, und bei der Prüfung dieses neuen Produkts hat sich gezeigt, dass im Gegensatz zu den meisten Fasern, in denen im Allgemeinen, um die Festigkeit einer Faser zu erhöhen muss ihren Durchmesser und damit ihr Gewicht zu erhöhen, mit diesem Material kann die Größe der Nano-Siliziumfasern verringert werden ohne Ihrem Widerstand zu schaden.
Diese Entdeckung könnte die Zukunft von hochfesten Materialien und Materialien auf der ganzen Welt verändern.
