
Ein Team von Forschern aus der Oberster Rat für wissenschaftliche Forschung (CSIC) hat eine neue Methode für die Verarbeitung von Daten mit hoher Geschwindigkeit unter Verwendung von Standardoptikkomponenten vorgeschlagen. Die Arbeit, veröffentlicht in Nature Communications, basiert auf Systemen mit Lernfähigkeit, die wie die Neuronale Netze.
"Die Anforderungen an moderne IT-Systeme für komplexe Berechnungen werden immer größer und erfordern effizientere Verarbeitungsmethoden," erklärt der Forscher des CSIC Claudio Mirasso vom Institut für Interdisziplinäre Physik und komplexe Systeme, dem gemischten Zentrum des CSCI und der Universität der Balearen.
"Eines der vielversprechendsten Ansätze zur Verbesserung dieser Effizienz ist der sogenannte Reservoir Computing, der die Übergangszustände eines nichtlinearen Systems als Basis nutzt, ähnlich dem, was in einem traditionellen neuronalen Netzwerk geschieht," fügt der Forscher hinzu.
Laser und Glasfasern
Das System verwendet einen Halbleiterlaser, um die erforderlichen Übergangszustände während des Prozesses zu erzeugen, während eine Glasfaserschleife, wie sie in den traditionellen optischen Kommunikationen verwendet wird, die Berechnung ermöglicht.
"Diese Art von System eignet sich für die Verarbeitung von temporären Informationssequenzen sowie Klassifizierungsaufgaben wie die Erkennung einer Stimme bei Gigabytes-Geschwindigkeiten pro Sekunde," sagt Mirasso.
Die Implementierung dieses Systems zeigt, wie die Möglichkeiten des Reservoir Computing für Datenverarbeitungsaufgaben effizient und vollständig optisch sind.
