El Forschungszentrum für Eisenbahntechnologien (CITEF) Polytechnische Universität Madrid (UPM), einer der Arbeitslinien der Einsatz verschiedener Simulationstechniken in Multidominium-Systemen, arbeitet an der Verbesserung eines Gerätes für die Extraktion von Blutgerinnseln durch Absorption die wirksam wirken kann, ohne dass dadurch eine Embolie durch das Bruchen des Gerinnsels verursacht wird.

 

Die Arbeit wird in Zusammenarbeit mit einem medizinischen Team aus dem Vereinigten Königreich durchgeführt, wo Laboruntersuchungen zur Modellierung und Charakterisierung des Geräts durchgeführt werden.

 

Ein zerebrovaskulärer Unfall tritt auf, wenn der Blutfluss in einen Teil des Gehirns gestoppt wird; im Falle einer Unterbrechung für mehr als ein paar Sekunden, kann das Gehirn nicht erhalten Blut und Sauerstoff, die dauerhafte Schäden verursachen. Gemäß der Weltgesundheitsorganisation (OMS) Über 15 Millionen Menschen sterben weltweit an Gefäßerkrankungen. Insbesondere sind zerebrovaskuläre Unfälle eine der ersten Todesursachen und die Hauptursache der Invalidität bei Erwachsenen, wobei sie eine der am stärksten sozial relevanten neurologischen Erkrankungen sind, mit über 120.000 neuen Fällen pro Jahr allein in Spanien.

 

Die Behandlung dieser Art von Unfällen kann in chemische Arbeitsstoffe und mechanische Thromboektomie-Geräte unterteilt werden. Die Zwecke jeder mechanischen Extraktion können in der Extraktion des Blutgerinnsels innerhalb der Arterien und in der Wiederherstellung des Blutflusses der Arterie zusammengefasst werden. Seit Jahren sind zahlreiche Geräte entwickelt worden, von denen viele an der Peripherie des Gefäßsystems arbeiten, aber es gibt relativ wenige Geräte, die in der Hirnvasculatur eingesetzt wurden. Eines der Hauptprobleme dieser Geräte ist, dass sie Embolien nach unten oder Bruch der Arterienwände aufgrund ihrer beweglichen Teile verursachen können.

 

Die Entwicklung neuer Vorrichtungen zur wirksamen Beseitigung dieser Gerinnsel wird durch den hohen Anteil der betroffenen Bevölkerung und durch die unterschiedlichen Risiken unterstützt, wobei die Möglichkeit der Entwicklung einer absorbierbaren Vorrichtung ohne bewegliche Teile und mit einer einfachen Konstruktion zu beachten ist, die als wirksamer Blutgerinnselextraktor wirken kann, ohne dass dies zu einer möglichen Bruchembolie dieses Gerinnels führen kann.

 

Das neue Extraktionsgerät, das derzeit entwickelt wird, basiert auf dem in Großbritannien erfundenen, nicht ortsveränderlichen regulierbaren Absorptions-Thromboektomgerät GP. Ausgehend von der ursprünglichen Konzeption und in Absprache mit dem britischen medizinischen Team führen Forscher des CITEF Verbesserungen und Optimierungen durch, indem sie verschiedene Simulationstechniken einsetzen, wofür die Modellierung und Charakterisierung des medizinischen Geräts auf der Grundlage von Laborversuchen im Vereinigten Königreich durchgeführt wird. Auf diese Weise wird an der Optimierung der Geometrie des Gerätes, an der Bewertung des optimalen Druckbereiches bei unterschiedlichen Situationen und Merkmalen des Gerinnsels, der Verteilung des Flusses in der Umgebung des Gerinnes und an dem Prozess der Entfernung des Blutgerinnsels aus der Arterienwand gearbeitet.
