Eine Kamera nur mit den aufgenommenen Bildern zu lokalisieren, was bisher nur für Satellitenortungssysteme (GPS) reserviert ist, ist dank der Technologie von SLAM (Simultaneous Localization And Mapping) sichtbar. Im Gegensatz zu GPS braucht das visuelle SLAM keine Satellitensignale zu erkennen, sondern nur eine Kamera und einen konventionellen Computer.

 

Die größte Herausforderung bei der Entwicklung dieser Systeme ist die Robustheit, die Fähigkeit, in jeder Szene für längere Zeit zu arbeiten, die Ausschlüsse der Kamera und plötzliche Bewegungen zu unterstützen.

 

 

ORBSLAM, ein neues visuelles SLAM-System

 

Ein Team von Forschern aus der I3A-Robotikgruppe von der Universität Saragossa unter der Leitung von Professor Juan D. Tardós hat ein neues visuelles SLAM-System entwickelt, das ORBSLAM (http://webdiis.unizar.es/~raulmur/orbslam/), die eine beispiellose Robustheit gezeigt hat. Das System wurde im Oktober 2015 in der internationalen Zeitschrift mit den größten Auswirkungen auf Robotik veröffentlicht. IEEE Transactions on Robotics. Und jetzt hat er diese Arbeit als seinen besten Artikel des Jahres 2015 ausgewählt, die Auszeichnung, die an die International Conference on Robotics and Automation Diesen Monat im Mai in Stockholm. Der Redaktionsausschuss hat die Robustheit des Systems und die Auswirkungen, die es seit seiner Veröffentlichung hatte, hervorgehoben.

 

ORBSLAM zeigt eine beispiellose Fähigkeit, in fast jeder Art von Szenen zu funktionieren: Landfahrzeuge, Roboter, Drohnen, virtuelle und erweiterte Realitätssysteme und sogar medizinische Endoskopie im menschlichen Körper. Daher ist er in der Lage, die genaue Lage in jeder Situation zu verwirklichen. Das System funktioniert ohne externe Signale oder eine Art von Marker an der Szene hinzuzufügen, so dass es perfekt für die Lage in Innenräumen, wo er ein paar Zentimeter nähert.

 

Die Robotik-Gruppe des Instituts für Ingenieurwissenschaften in Aragon (I3A) arbeitet seit zwei Jahrzehnten in dieser Technologie. Die Universität von Saragossa hat bereits ORBSLAM Unternehmen aus Europa, Amerika und Asien für die kommerzielle Nutzung in Robotik, virtueller Realität und erhöhter Realität lizenziert. Juan D. Es ist spät, es unterstreicht die Bedeutung, die diese Software erreicht hat, "Unsere Gruppe ist seit zwei Jahrzehnten Pionier in der SLAM-Forschung, aber wir konnten die Auswirkungen nicht vorhersehen, die wir erreicht haben.
