29/04/2013 - Studie über Schwermetalle in spanischen landwirtschaftlichen Böden

Forscher der Polytechnische Universität Madrid (UPM) und Nationales Institut für Agrar- und Lebensmittelforschung und -technologie (INIA) haben den Gehalt an Schwermetallen in den landwirtschaftlichen Böden Spaniens untersucht. Sie kommt zu dem Schluss, dass diese Metalle so niedrig sind, dass sie keine Gefahr für die Qualität der Kulturen darstellen.

 

Für diese Studie, die vom Ministerium für Landwirtschaft, Ernährung und Umwelt finanziert wurde, wurden mehr 4.000 Bodenproben Sie haben die Grundlage dafür geschaffen, daß durch Weltraumanalysen die Nationale Karte von Schwermetallen in landwirtschaftlichen Böden Spaniens*. In der Mehrzahl der untersuchten Proben wurden keine hohen Werte für diese Elemente eines möglichen Gesundheitsrisikos vorgelegt, so dass unsere Böden nach Ansicht der Forscher weiterhin für die landwirtschaftliche Produktion geeignet sind und die Qualität ihrer Produkte gewährleisten.

In einigen Teilen des spanischen Territoriums, wie den Tälern der Flüsse Ebro und Duero, ist jedoch ein Erhöhung der Quecksilberwerte -Bioakkumulierbares Metall, eines der giftigsten Elemente des Planeten - als Folge des menschlichen Einsatzes in die Umwelt. Mehrere Aktivitäten wie Industrie, Bergbau und Schmelzen, Verbrennung fossiler Brennstoffe oder Müllverbrennung erhöhen die Quecksilberemissionen in die Atmosphäre und machen heute zwei Drittel des gesamten Quecksilbers aus. Dieses Quecksilber wird nach einer mehr oder weniger langen Reise in die Atmosphäre (nach Berechnungen, das in die Atmosphäre abgegebene Quecksilber wirkt sich auf Bereiche von etwa 20 Kilometern um die Emissionsquelle aus).

Obwohl die derzeitigen Konzentrationen unter den gesetzlich festgelegten Grenzwerten liegen, kann die diffuse Ablagerung von Quecksilber zu einem Anstieg der Bodenkonzentration führen, was zu künftigen Verschmutzungsproblemen führen würde. Aus diesem Grund empfehlen die Forscher die Entwicklung spezifischer Bodenschutzstrategien.
