Die für dieses Projekt entwickelte Technologie umfasste zwei optische Verbindungen, eine konventionelle und eine andere Quantenverbindung, miteinander verbundene, häufig nicht korrelierte Photonenquellen und individuelle Photonendetektoren mit ultra-niedrigem Geräuschpegel. Dies verbunden mit einem exakten Synchronisationssystem zwischen Empfänger und Sender ermöglichte es ihnen nicht nur Verringerung des Geräuschpegels, sondern auch Verringerung der Übertragungsfrist 10 bis 3 Mikrosekunden.
Die mit Quanten-Kryptographie geschützten Systeme gewährleisten die absolute Vertraulichkeit der übermittelten Informationen. Wenn Sie versuchen, diese Informationen zu erfassen, wird der Geräuschpegel im Übertragungskanal verändert, was zu einer sofortigen Störungswarnung führt.
Die derzeit modernste Quantenanlage mit einer Geschwindigkeit von 10 Megabit pro Sekunde arbeitet derzeit mit einer Geschwindigkeit bis zu 20 Kilometern, doch die Ergebnisse dieser Tests sind ein Erfolg für das Projekt.
