
Die Bundesregierung hat gestern Mittel für den Bau eines Solarkraftwerks in Kalifornien und eines Windfelds in Oregon bewilligt, das zusammen 379 Megawatt Energie erzeugen wird, ausreichend, um 112 500 Haushalte zu versorgen und mehr als 600 Arbeitsplätze zu schaffen.
Dies wären die Projekte für erneuerbare Energien Nr. 26 bzw. 27, die das Innenministerium in den letzten zwei Jahren unterstützt hat.
"Wir bewegen uns weiterhin aktiv und schnell in die Zukunft sauberer Energie. Diese Projekte stärken lokale Wirtschaften, indem sie gute Arbeitsplätze und zuverlässige Energie schaffen," erklärte der Innenminister Ken Salazar in einer Erklärung.
Im Zentrum, Kalifornien, ist das Solar Centinela-Projekt, ein 275 Megawatt Solarenergiewerk, das durch die Substation des Imperial Valley in San Diego de Gas & Electric verbunden wird. Diese Anlage wird mindestens 367 Arbeitsplätze schaffen, die über 30 Millionen Dollar an Steuern während des gesamten Projektlebens erzeugen und außerdem genügend Strom zur Versorgung von etwa 82 500 Haushalten bereitstellen.
Das Projekt von Oregon, North Steens Transmission Line, ist eine 44-Meilen-Linie, die Energie für etwa 30.000 Häuser erzeugt, 4.5 Millionen Einnahmen aus lokalen Steuern während des gesamten Projektlebens.
Beide Projekte wurden einer umfassenden Umweltprüfung unterzogen, um mögliche Auswirkungen im Voraus abzumildern, wie die Behörden anmerkten.
Da die Entwicklung auf Privatgrundstücken mit dem Bundesrecht für die Übertragung von Leitungen verbunden ist und nicht ohne Zustimmung des Innenministeriums durchgeführt werden kann, musste der Umweltverträglichkeitsbericht und die Umweltverträglichkeitsprüfung die Auswirkungen der gesamten Energieerzeugung und -übertragung von Projekten berücksichtigen, einschließlich der Komponente, dass diese auf privaten Flächen liegen.
