Das vierte Automatisierte Fahrzeug zur Übertragung der ESA, ATVAlbert Einstein, sind Sie bereit, Ihre Reise zur Internationalen Raumstation am nächsten 5. Juni an Bord eines Ariane 5 Sie wird vom Europäischen Weltraumhafen in Kourou, Französisch-Guayana abreisen.
Der Start ist für die 23:52 CEST (21:52 GMT). Das Schiff wird sich drei Stunden und vier Minuten später vom Pitcher trennen und eine Reihe von Überprüfungen seiner Systeme und von Orbitalmanövern einleiten, die es bis zur Internationalen Raumstation bringen werden, mit der es am 15. Juni zusammenarbeiten will.
Der ATVAlbert Einstein, der unter dem Namen des Wissenschaftlers getauft wurde, der für seine Relativitätstheorie bekannt ist, wird wesentliche Güter transportieren und die Umlaufbahn des Orbitalkomplexes während seiner Mission mit einer Dauer von fünf Monaten erhöhen. Die Startmasse des ATV-4 ist 20.235 kgDas macht es zu dem schwersten Schiff, das jemals in Europa geworfen wurde, und es transportiert auch die größte Versorgungslast der gesamten ATV-Familie.
Das Schiff erfüllt die Funktionen von vier Fahrzeugen, transportiert Ausrüstung und Vorräte, tankt die Tanktanks der Station, erhöht die Umlaufbahn des Orbitalkomplexes und bietet eine bewohnbare Raum für seine Besatzung.

Das ATV transportiert wissenschaftliche Experimente - darunter mehrere für die Mission des ESA-Astronauten Luca Parmitano - Ersatzteile, Kraftstoff, Gase, Lebensmittel und Kleidung, bis zu insgesamt 1.400 verschiedene Elemente.
Ein großer Teil dieser Elemente wurde von den verschiedenen Weltraumagenturen geliefert, die am Programm der Internationalen Weltraumstation teilnehmen, darunter die NASA oder die japanische Weltraumagentur JAXA.
Luca, die seit dem 29. Mai in der Station lebt und arbeitet, wird den Anflug und den Andock des ATV überwachen und dabei helfen, die Lieferungen, die Sie in Ihrem Keller transportieren, herunterzuladen und zu speichern.
