
La Verschmutzung durch Schwermetalle ist eines der größten Umweltprobleme, die es derzeit gibt. Eine große Zahl von Industriezweigen produziert und entladen Abfälle, die Schwermetalle in der Umwelt enthalten, die gegen die geltenden EU-Richtlinien verstoßen und sogar das menschliche Leben gefährden können.
In diesem Sinne hat die Universität Salamanca, durch seine Zentrum für Wasserforschung und -technologie (CIDTA) ist die wissenschaftliche Koordinatorin des so genannten europäischen Projekts "BIOMETAL DEMONSTATION plant for the biological rehabiliation of metal bearing-wastewaters" Das Projekt wurde heute Morgen von der Vizerektorin von Dozentin Ma Luisa Martín Calvo und Manuel Roig, dem Direktor des CIDTA, während der Veranstaltung am Erzbischofskollegium Fonseca, an der Vertreter des internationalen Forschungskonsortiums teilnahmen, vorgestellt.
BIOMETAL DEMO
Das Projekt BIOMETAL DEMO, das zwischen 2014 und 2017 zu entwickeln ist, soll die Durchführbarkeit der Anwendung neuer Biotechnologien für die Behandlung von metallverseuchtem Industrieabwasser durch die Entwicklung von zwei Pilotanlagen belegen, die in zwei repräsentativen Branchen mit Metallabwässern wie Urgeirica (Portugal) und der Industrie-Goñabe-Galvatisierungsfirma Valladolid gebaut und betrieben werden sollen.
Die Biotechnologien, die im Rahmen der Initiative bewertet werden sollen, sind die Biopräzipitation von Metallen durch sulfathaltige, phytosanhaltige und phytosanshaltige Bakterien sowie die Bioabsorption von Metallen auf Nebenprodukte der Lebensmittelindustrie sowie auf Alginat- und Chitosan-basierte Materialien.
Nach der Bewertung der Techniken wird entweder der optimale Bioprozess oder eine Synergie zweier integrierter Bioprozesse für die Planung, den Bau, den Betrieb und die Überwachung von zwei Demonstrations-Pilotanlagen für die Drittbehandlung der Metallentsorgung, einer der sauren Ableitungen aus dem Bergbau und einer anderen für das Abwasser aus der Galvanoplastikindustrie ausgewählt.
Schließlich wird eine sozioökonomische und technische Analyse der Vorteile durchgeführt, die die tertiäre Biobehandlung von Industriemetallwässern für die betroffenen Industriezweige auf europäischer Ebene mit sich bringen kann. Das Projekt verfügt über ein Gesamtbudget von 4,33 Mio. EUR, wovon die EU 2,90 Mio. EUR bereitstellt.

Das Konsortium besteht aus vier Forschungsteams, dem CIDTA der Universität Salamanca (wissenschaftlicher Koordinator), der Gruppe Metallurgia Extractiva/Biohydrometallurgia der Complutense-Universität, der Umweltforschungsgruppe des Zentrums für Wissenschaften der Mar do Algarve (Portugal) und dem Labor für Umweltingenieurwesen der Schule für Bergbau in Alès (Frankreich) sowie den KMU, Contactica S.L. (Koordinator), Industrial Goñabe, LCW Consult S.A., Serviecologia y Ocean Behandlung S.L und Hydrolab S.L
