Derzeit gibt es rund 80 Exoplaneten bestätigt mit einer Größe, die der Erde ähnlich ist, wenn auch von ihnen, nur wenige von denen, die den richtigen Abstand zu ihrem Stern haben, um Flüssiges Wasser auf der Oberfläche.

 

Von den insgesamt schätzungsweise sieben auf der Milchstraße, auch wenn sie außerhalb des Sonnensystems liegen, könnten Leben beherbergen. Unter ihnen ist der bereits bekannte Gliese 581g, der erste, der sich als solcher identifizierte und später mit Gliese 581d und 85512b HD und Kepler 22b, 667Cc, Gliese 163c und 40307g HD erweitert wurde.

 

Diese Liste der "Superterrassen" oder Exoplaneten ist ähnlich groß wie die Erde und befindet sich in der Wohngegend ihres Sterns, d. h. sie nimmt den schmalen Orbitstreifen ein, in dem die richtige Temperatur gegeben wird, um das Vorhandensein von Wasser in flüssigem Zustand zu ermöglichen, ein unverzichtbares Element, um das Leben zu ermöglichen.

 

 

Katalog der bewohnbaren Exoplaneten

 

Dieses Projekt wurde geboren, als Informationen über mögliche bewohnbare Planeten verbreitet wurden, obwohl bisher kein Planet gefunden wurde, der der Erde genau ähnlich ist.

 

Im Jahr 2011 wurde in dieser ersten Version zum ersten Mal der Katalog der bewohnbaren Exoplaneten (HEC) vorgestellt, nur zwei Himmelskörper wurden gefunden, die die Bedingungen, die das Entstehen von Lebewesen auf der Erde ermöglichten, wiedergeben. In dieser jährlichen Aktualisierung wurden 5 weitere hinzugefügt, Experten haben darauf hingewiesen, dass "die Erwartungen bei der Suche nach neuen Flächen übertroffen wurden."

 

Der Hauptforscher der Arbeit,Abel Méndez, hat das Team darauf hingewiesen, dass es hofft, vielleicht einen oder zwei Planeten im ersten Jahr des Projekts hinzufügen, so dass die Hinzufügung von fünf Planeten möglicherweise bewohnbar "Es war eine Überraschung.". Mit der Verbesserung der Techniken für die Suche nach Planeten außerhalb des Sonnensystems, wird das Tempo der Entdeckung steigt. Dank Observatorien wie dem von La Silla (Chile) und dem Kepler-Raumteleskop hat die Forschung in diesen Jahren erheblich vorangebracht.
