Die Entdeckung von Wissenschaftlern aus Argentinien und Malaysia könnte die Entwicklung wirksamer Methoden zur Reinigung von Böden oder Wasservorräten, die von menschlichen Tätigkeiten betroffen sind.

 

Getrennte Bakterien auf den Böden der Antarktis sind in der Lage, die chemische Form einer Art von Metall, das einige Ökosysteme beeinflusst um fast 100 Prozent zu reduzieren. Der Fund, der von Forschern aus Argentinien und Malaysia durchgeführt wurde, bildet die Grundlage für die Entwicklung von Sanierungsprozessen in von der menschlichen Tätigkeit betroffenen Bereichen.

 

Wissenschaftler fanden heraus, dass Bakterien des Stammes Pseudomonas DRY1 die Verunreinigungswirkung von Molibdat um 95 Prozent hemmten, ein Metall aus der Eisen- und Stahlindustrie, das mit anderen menschlichen Tätigkeiten wie Bergbau, verschiedenen industriellen Katalyseverfahren und der Hemmung von Korrosionsprozessen in Verbindung steht, erklärte der CyTA-Agentur, Dr. Walter Mac CormackDirektor des Abteilung für Umweltmikrobiologie und Ökophysiologie del Argentinisches Institut für Antarktis (IAA) und einer der wichtigsten Autoren der Studie in der wissenschaftlichen Zeitschrift "BioMed Research International”.

 

 

Was ist an diesem Mikroorganismus so besonders?

 

Die DRY1-Bakterien wurden im Bereich der wissenschaftlichen Basis Carlini auf der Insel 25 Mai des Antarktis-Archipels der Südshetlande isoliert. Sie können daher unter extremen Bedingungen wachsen und wirken, wie Mindest-Winter unter Null und Höchst-Station, die außergewöhnlich 10 °C erreichen.

 

"Abgesehen von der Temperatur sind diese Böden extrem, weil sie sehr niedrige Nährstoffe haben, sehr trocken sind und hochgradig von UV-Strahlen bestrahlt werden," erklärte Mac Cormack. Die untersuchten Bakterien enthalten Molybdat und verändern ihren Zustand mit einer Reihe von "Reduktase"-Enzymen.

 

Mac Cormack, der auch Professor an der UBA ist, wies darauf hin, dass wenn man an kontaminiertem Wasser arbeiten sollte, Reaktoren mit diesem eingefrorenen Bakterienstamm gebaut werden können, damit das Wasser als "Netzwerk" durch diese Matrix fließt. Bei der Bodenreinigung gibt es andere Alternativen, die je nach Art des Schadstoffs, dem Wirkmechanismus der Mikroorganismen und den erforderlichen Umgebungsbedingungen variieren.

 

Die untersuchten Bakterien wurden in der Carlini-Basis und Hügel 3 Brüder in der Antarktis.
