
Die Reifen von Fahrzeugen, die in der Welt fahren, bestehen im Wesentlichen aus drei Komponenten: Latex oder Kautschuk, Textilarmaturen und Stahlfasern. Der einzige Stoff, der bisher nicht wieder verwendet werden konnte, war Textil, weshalb er nach seiner Verwendung entweder auf die Deponie oder als Verbrennungsmaterial ging.
Lluis Gil, Labor für technologische Innovation von Strukturen und Materialien (LITEM), y Xavier Cañavate, Forschungsgruppe POLQUITEX -beide der UPC auf dem Campus von Terrassa - haben zusammen mit den Unternehmen KOMSA y GMN, ein neues Material aus dem unbenutzten Reifentextilien. Das Projekt wurde auch von Professor Teresa Vidal, Forschungsgruppe Papier-Engineering Celbiotech, UPC.
Aufwertung und Wettbewerbsfähigkeit
Eine der Stärken des Projekts ist die Entwicklung einer Reihe von Lösungen, die es ermöglichen, das Endprodukt an die Anforderungen des Kunden anzupassen und es in Form von Sack oder Platten zu liefern. Nach verschiedenen Prüfungen war der Schlüssel zur Beschaffung des neuen Materials die Kombination aus drei Komponenten: Fasern, Recyclingpapier und Klebeleim. Das neue Material hat sich als sehr effektiv für den Bausektor und für Eisenbahnprojekte erwiesen, weil es eine akustische und thermische Isolierung ist.
Konventionelle Isoliermaterialien kosten etwa 6,2 EUR/m2 mit Gesteinswolle und 3,8 EUR/m2 mit Glaswolle, während die Kosten für das neue Material niedriger sind. In Bezug auf ihre Isolierfähigkeit ist sie sowohl aus Gesteinswolle als auch aus Glaswolle gleich oder größer.
Laut Lluis Gil "ist dieses neue Material technisch vergleichbar mit dem, was bisher zur Wärme- und akustischen Isolierung von Gebäuden verwendet wird, die aus Steinwolle und Glaswolle bestehen, aber billiger sind."
Xavier Cañavate seinerseits ist der Ansicht, dass "unser Material die Wiederherstellung von Millionen Tonnen Fasern erleichtert, die bislang auf die Deponie gebracht wurden, sobald der Reifen nicht mehr brauchbar war, wodurch Energieeinsparungen und CO2-Emissionen in die Atmosphäre sowie die Aufwertung des Recyclingpapiers, das sehr schwer wieder verwendet werden kann, erzielt wurden."
Das neue Material ergibt sich aus der Beteiligung der Unternehmen GMN und COMMA und der ministeriellen Finanzierung des INNPACTO-Programms, das mit 130.000 Euro ausgestattet ist. Darüber hinaus hat das Projekt acht abschließende Arbeiten und eine Master-Dissertation generiert.
