
Wissenschaftler des Nationalen Instituts für Nuklearforschung (ININ) entwickeln Technologien zur Behandlung von Schadstoffen, um sie in Industrieschornsteinen und Autoabgasen implementieren zu können.
Dr. Marquidia Josseline Pacheco Pacheco, Inhaberin des Projekts, stellte fest, dass durch die Entwicklung von Plasmareaktoren (Gas, das mit elektrischen Partikeln beladen ist) können mehr als 90 Prozent Stickstoffoxid und Schwefeldioxid entfernt werden, was die wichtigsten Schadstoffe sind, die durch den Rauch von Fabriken und Autos freigesetzt werden.
Von der Expertin des Labors für Plasmaanwendungen des ININ ist zu sagen, dass die Katalysatoren, die derzeit in Autos enthalten sind, eine geringe Effizienz bei der Beseitigung von Schwefelschadstoffen (mit Benzinen) aufweisen.
Aus diesem Grund hat die Forscherin ein Kaltplasma in das Auspuffrohr eines Automobilsystems integriert, um es in Katalysatoren zu integrieren. In diesem Zusammenhang sagte er: "Schwefeloxide vergiften katalytische Konverter, und sie verlieren ihre Effizienz. Die Plasmareaktoren erhöhen jedoch die Lebensdauer dieser Komponenten."
Die Forscherin sagte, die ersten Tests seien bereits auf einem Motorprüfstand durchgeführt worden, so daß man das Gerät in verschiedenen Autos platzieren könne. Er fügte hinzu, dass die Entwicklung derzeit im Patentverfahren für die Anwendung in Industrieschornsteinen mit einem ähnlichen Effekt ist.
Plasma gegen Schadstoffe
Dr. Pacheco Pacheco erklärte, dass Plasmae (Ionisierte Gase, die 99 Prozent des Universums ausmachen) unterschiedliche Anwendungen haben. In der kaltes Plasma Chemikalien, die bei der Entfernung von giftigen Gasen helfen, werden erzeugt (bei Raumtemperatur).
Schließlich wies die Expertin darauf hin, dass das Plasma verwendet und mit einem Nanostrukturbett (aus Materialien wie Kohlenstoff und Graphit synthetisiert). Mit Hilfe der Adsorptionstechnik können bis zu 98 Prozent der von einem Auto emittierten Schadstoffe entfernt werden.
Dieses Projekt wurde von Conacyt, Semarnat und dem Institut für Wissenschaft und Technologie des Bundesdistrikts in seiner Anfangsphase unterstützt, wird aber derzeit vom Mexikanischen Rat für Wissenschaft und Technik unterstützt.
