Übermäßige Werte von Radon - ein natürliches radioaktives Gas - sind mit einem erhöhten Risiko für Lungenkrebs verbunden. Forscher der UNED und Rat für nukleare Sicherheit Sie haben die erste Karte erstellt, die auf der Grundlage von Wohnungsmessungen statistische Methoden verwendet, um Gebiete mit dem größten Risiko einer Exposition gegenüber diesem Gas auf der Halbinsel zu ermitteln.

 

Diese Regionen liegen vor allem in der Westteil.

 

Die größte Quelle natürlicher Radioaktivität ist Radongas. Die OMS Die Exposition gegenüber diesem Gas wird in einigen Ländern als zweitwichtigste Ursache für Lungenkrebs eingestuft. Das Radon, das durch den Zerfall von Radio und Uran in den Böden entstanden ist, strahlt bis zur Oberfläche aus und durch Diffusion oder Konvektion in die Wohnungen ein.

 

Da sie geruchlos ist, wird ihr Vorhandensein völlig unbemerkt und die einzige Möglichkeit, herauszufinden, ob sie schädlichen Konzentrationen ausgesetzt ist, ist durch Messungen. In Spanien wurde bisher noch nie eine Analyse auf der gesamten Halbinsel durchgeführt. "Dies ist die erste Karte, auf der sich die Gebiete mit Radonrisiko auf Peninsularebene identifizieren," erklärt Alfonso García-Pérez, Forscher der Abteilung Statistik, operative Forschung und Zahlenberechnung der UNED und einer der Autoren der Studie.

 

Die Forschung, an der sich der Rat für nukleare Sicherheit (NCC) beteiligt, verwendet statistische Methoden, um ein Gebiet als signifikantes Risiko für Radon einzustufen. Der CSN empfiehlt die durchschnittlichen jährlichen Radonkonzentrationen von 300 Bq/m in Haushalten nicht überschritten werden3 (Becquerelios pro Kubikmeter Luft). Dieser Wert wird in der künftigen Europäischen Richtlinie zum Strahlenschutz berücksichtigt, obwohl die derzeitige Empfehlung 400 Bq/m beträgt.3.

Der Artikel in der Zeitschrift Journal of Radiological Protection, zeigt, dass in fast ganz Galicien, West-Asturien, dem westlichsten Teil von Kastilien und León, Extremadura und nordwestlichen Gebieten von Andalusien ein erheblicher Prozentsatz der Gebäude über 300 Bq/m3.
