Die Umweltorganisation Greenpeace hat heute im Hafen von Berne (Nord-Westdeutschland) ihr neues Flaggschiff, das "Rainbow Warrior III," geworfen, das die neuesten technologischen Entwicklungen zum Umweltschutz beinhaltet.
Mit einem Budget von 23 Mio. EUR ist der neue "Krieger des Regenbogens" ein 58 Meter langes Segelboot mit zwei Doppelmasten in Form von "A," die von beiden Seiten des Decks abfliegen und sich an seiner Spitze vereinen, um bis zu 1.300 Quadratmeter Segeln zu verteilen.
"Auch mit dem Rainbow Warrior III werden wir gegen die Zerstörung der Umwelt aktiv bleiben. Dieses neue Schiff ist das Versprechen, dass wir weiterhin auf eine grüne und friedliche Zukunft setzen," so Kumi Naidoo, Präsident von Greenpeace International.
Merkmale. Der "Rainbow Warrior III" wird hauptsächlich durch die Windkraft verschoben, obwohl das Schiff auch über einen kleinen Elektromotor mit Katalysator verfügt, um die Emissionen zu reduzieren, die nur für Manöver und kurze Strecken verwendet werden.
Das Boot bringt seine Segel durch Drücken einer Taste, verfügt über eine ökologische Wasseraufbereitungsanlage und ein Reinigungssystem für seine organischen Abfälle und eine Recyclinganlage für den Rest der Abfälle, die es erzeugt.
Die Ingenieure, die in den letzten drei Jahren in den Fastmer-Werften für die Konstruktion des Schiffes verantwortlich waren, haben außerdem die Verwendung von Kunststoffen und tropischen Holzarten für die ausschließliche Verwendung von Holz europäischen Ursprungs aus ökologisch genutzten Wäldern verhindert.
Das neue Greenpeace-Schiff hat auf seinem Heck eine große Plattform zum Transport eines Hubschraubers sowie die Kapazität von 32 Matrosen, doppelt so viel wie der "Rainbow Warrior II," sein Vorgänger, seit den späten 80er Jahren aktiv war.
