
Ein internationales Team unter Leitung der Professoren an der Universität Concepción Gustavo Lima und Guilherme Xavier, Professor an der Universität Sevilla Adán Cabello und Professor an der Universidad "La Sapienza" in Rom Paolo Mataloni hat gerade gezeigt, dass die Quantenverflechtung kann die Privatsphäre der Kommunikation durch optische Fasern.
Außerdem haben sie festgelegt, wie sie ihre Energie-Zeit-Verbund zwischen einem Sender und einem Empfänger über mehr als 1 km Glasfaser. Der Fund wird diese Woche in der Zeitschrift Nature Communications veröffentlicht und basiert auf einem theoretischen Vorschlag, der vor vier Jahren veröffentlicht wurde und der bis heute als undurchführbar galt. Das Experiment wurde an der Universität von Concepción (Chile) durchgeführt, die von einem ehrgeizigen Forschungsprogramm in Quantenoptik unterstützt wurde.
"Dieses Ergebnis ist ein sehr wichtiger Fortschritt bei der Schaffung sicherer Kommunikationen und zeigt eine weitere Anwendung, die Quantentechnologien in naher Zukunft haben werden," sagt Adam Cabello, der hinzufügt, dass nach Edward Snowden die Existenz des geheimen Überwachungsprogramms der Nationalen Sicherheitsagentur der Vereinigten Staaten (NSA) "man sich fragen könnte, warum es so schwierig ist, die Privatsphäre der Online-Kommunikation zu gewährleisten."
Aus rein theoretischer Sicht gibt es kein Problem. In den letzten zehn Jahren haben Physiker bewiesen, dass vollkommen sichere Kommunikation möglich ist. Weder die NSA noch irgendein Spion, so fortschrittlich sie auch sein mag, können die Gesetze der Physik verletzen. Und eine davon ist, dass es unmöglich ist, Informationen schneller als die des Lichts zu übermitteln. Und genau das würde die NSA brauchen, um auf Quantenverflechtung basierende Kommunikationssysteme auszuspionieren, wie diese Forscher erklären.
"Das Problem ist praktisch: Es ist technisch nicht einfach, Quantenverflechtung zwischen einem Emittenten und einem Empfänger zu verteilen, der weit entfernt ist. Noch schwieriger ist dies, wenn einer von ihnen nicht in der Sichtlinie des anderen ist und wenn die Kommunikation über optische Fasern erfolgt, wie sie in den heutigen Kommunikationssystemen verwendet werden. In diesem Fall ist die beste Möglichkeit, Quantenverzweigung zu verteilen, eine bestimmte Art von Verzahnung zu verwenden, die als Energie-Zeit-Verknüpfung bezeichnet wird. Der Haken ist, dass alle Experimente dieser Art in den letzten 14 Jahren ein angeborenes Problem hatten, das genutzt werden konnte, um die Kommunikation auszuspionieren." Das Problem, das Adam Haare behauptet, wurde in dieser Arbeit gelöst.
