Ein internationales Forschungskonsortium mit Beteiligung der Oberster Rat für wissenschaftliche Forschung (CSIC) plant die Entwicklung einer Leichtes und flexibles Exoskelett  für Beine für Personen mit eingeschränkter Mobilität. Dieses neue Exoskelett zielt darauf ab, die Nachteile der bisher verfügbaren Geräte zu lindern, die oft unwegsam, unflexibel und daher nur teilweise beim Bewegungsprozess helfen können, und es fördert auch nicht die Aktivierung der Beine, was für die Vermeidung von Atrophien von wesentlicher Bedeutung ist.

 

Das Projekt ist Teil des Forschungs- und Innovationsprogramms "Horizont 2020", der Europäischen Union.

 

 

XoSoft

 

Das neue Gerät namens XoSoft besteht aus Sensoren, die in fortgeschrittene Textilien und intelligente Materialien integriert sind, um empfindliche Gelenke mit unterschiedlicher Steifigkeit zu erzeugen. "Die integrierten Sensoren werden die Bewegung und die Absicht des Benutzers an die Steuereinheit weiterleiten, die auf diese Weise durch flexible, in die Textilindustrie integrierte Aktuatoren das entsprechende Maß an Unterstützung ermitteln und bereitstellen wird: Je nach Bedarf des Benutzers wird das Gerät Unterstützung, Entspannung oder Bewegungsfreiheit bieten," erklärt der Forscher Eduardo Rocon vom Zentrum für Automatik und Robotik in Madrid.

 

Dieses flexible und leichte Exoskelett ist für ältere Menschen und/oder Personen mit körperlichen Behinderungen bestimmt, die zur Verbesserung ihrer Mobilität beitragen und daher ihrer Gesundheit und Lebensqualität zugute kommen. Das Gerät wird komfortabel und leicht sein, so dass es unter der Kleidung getragen werden kann.

Die neun Organisationen aus sieben europäischen Ländern, die in diese öffentlich-private Zusammenarbeit eingebunden sind, haben dieses Forschungs- und Entwicklungsprojekt im Februar dieses Jahres mit dem Ziel ins Leben gerufen, 2019 den ersten voll funktionsfähigen Prototyp zu schaffen. Das Team besteht aus fünf Forschungsgruppen in Robotik, Biotechnik, Umwelt-Intelligence und Design. Dazu gehören auch Unternehmen und Partnerkliniken, die Experten in den Bereichen Rehabilitationstechnologie, Geriatrie und Prothesenanwendung bereitstellen. Die Europäische Union und die Schweiz haben 5,4 Mio. EUR für die Finanzierung des Projekts bereitgestellt.

 

Die durchschnittliche Lebenserwartung in Europa hat sich im letzten Jahrhundert fast verdoppelt. Aber auch die Zahl der älteren Menschen mit moderater Mobilität nimmt zu. Darüber hinaus können mehrere angeborene oder chronische Erkrankungen oder eine Verletzung, auch in jungen Jahren, zu verschiedenen Graden eingeschränkter Mobilität führen. In Europa gibt es 3,2 Millionen Rollstuhlfahrer, und weitere 40 Millionen können nicht ohne Hilfe laufen.
