
Ein brasilianischer Ingenieur, Jonas Rodrigo dos Santos, hat ein natürliches System für die Abwasserbehandlung entwickelt, das die Fähigkeit hat, fast alle Verunreinigungen im Wasser zu beseitigen und so die Verschmutzung von Wasserquellen und die Ausbreitung von Krankheiten zu verhindern.
Das System wurde ursprünglich für die Abwasserbehandlung auf landwirtschaftlichen Betrieben entwickelt und konzipiert, die sich in ländlichen Gebieten und mit geringen Ressourcen befinden, und es wird auch untersucht, wie es in Wohnungen eingesetzt werden kann, in denen es kein Abwassersammelnetz gibt.
Das vollständig natürliche System besteht aus fünf Phasen der Wasserreinigung. Im ersten Fall befindet sich ein Haupttank, der sich in vier Filterstufen unterteilt: Steinfilter bis zu 20 cm, zerquetschte Steine, Kies und dicker Sand. Für eine umfassendere Abwasserbehandlung enthält das System einige Pflanzen wie Taiobas, Tüllen oder Bananen, um die Reinigung zu verbessern und gleichzeitig erhalten die Pflanzen Nährstoffe, Phosphor, Stickstoff und Wasser.
Pilottest und Ergebnisse
Die Gestaltung des natürlichen Systems für die Abwasserbehandlung wurde von Jonas in der Fakultät für Umwelttechnik en Foz do Iguaçu, und der Pilottest wurde von Denilson José dos Santos (Vater des Ingenieurs) in der ländlichen Region Capanema, Paraná installiert.
Nach dem Aufbau des Systems wurden Tests mit Wasser durchgeführt, das 8.300 Milligramm/Liter Festmaterial enthielt, das nach dem Filterverfahren im System nur 170 Milligramm/Liter enthält.

Die Idee war auch Finalistenpreis für die ANA-Preise 2014 Forschung und technologische Innovation.
