Ein Team von Forschern aus der Virginia Tech (Polytechnisches Institut und Staatliche Universität Virginia) hat Batterie, die mit Zucker arbeitet und hat eine unvergleichliche Ladekapazität, eine Entwicklung, die konventionelle Batterien ersetzen könnte, mit denen sie billiger, nachfüllbar und biologisch abbaubar sind.

 

Die Ergebnisse von Y. H. Percival Zhang, Assistant Professor für biologische Systemtechnik in der College of Agriculture and Life Sciences und College of Engineering, die in der Zeitschrift Nature Communications.

 

Obwohl bislang bereits andere Zuckerbatterien entwickelt wurden, weist Professor Zhang darauf hin, dass die Kapazität dieser neuen Batterien sehr viel höher ist, was ihm eine größere Autonomie ermöglicht. In etwa drei Jahren könnte dieser neue Akku in einigen elektronischen Geräten wie Mobiltelefonen, Tablets usw. eingebaut werden.

 

 

Die Batterie ist auch nachfüllbar und der Zucker kann zu viel als Füllen einer Patrone mit Tinte des Druckers hinzugefügt werden.

 

 

Zucker und Energie

 

Nach Angaben der Umweltagentur werden jedes Jahr allein in den Vereinigten Staaten Milliarden von Batterien mit giftigen Verbindungen entsorgt, was eine Bedrohung für Umwelt und Gesundheit darstellt. Mit dieser neuen Entwicklung könnten Hunderttausende Tonnen Batterien im Mülleimer landen.

 

"Zucker ist eine fast perfekte natürliche Energiespeicherung," sagte Zhang. "Es ist also logisch, dass wir versuchen, diese natürliche Kraft auf eine umweltfreundliche Art und Weise zu nutzen, um eine Batterie zu produzieren. "

 

In dieser neuen Entwicklung haben Zhang und seine Kollegen eine nicht natürliche Enzymsynthese entwickelt, die alle Potenziale der Zuckerladung beseitigt, um Elektrizität in einem enzymatischen Brennstoffstapel zu erzeugen. Mit diesem System werden preisgünstige Bio-Katalysator-Enzyme als Katalysatoren anstelle des teuren Platins verwendet, ein übliches Element konventioneller Batterien.

 

Wie alle Brennstoffzellen kombiniert die Zuckerbatterie mit Kraftstoff - in diesem Fall Maltodextrin - einem Polysaccharid aus der teilweisen Hydrolyse von Stärke - mit Luft, um Strom und Wasser als die wichtigsten Nebenprodukte zu erzeugen.

 

 

Biodegradierbar

 

Im Gegensatz zu Wasserstoff-Brennstoffzellen und Methanol-Brennstoffzellen ist die Brennstoffzellenlösung weder explosiv noch entzündbar und hat eine höhere Energiespeicherdichte. Die für den Bau des Geräts verwendeten Enzyme und Brennstoffe sind biologisch abbaubar.

 

 

Sonstige Arbeiten

 

Dies ist der letzte Erfolg von Professor Zhang, der auch Artikel über die Erzeugung von essbarer Stärke aus Nicht-Lebensmittelpflanzen veröffentlicht und eine neue Methode entwickelt hat, um Wasserstoff in einer umweltfreundlichen und umweltfreundlichen Form zu extrahieren, die als Kraftstoff für Fahrzeuge verwendet werden kann.
